ECS (Extended Communication Server) Premium VMware appliance Setup

This is step by step Guide for installing the ECS (Extended Communication Server) Premium software in VMware environment which can be useful for testing, learning and support purposes.

I am using VMware 7.0 Workstation to build this appliance. You can try it with other versions of VMware.

  • Open VMware Workstation Click File >> New >> Virtual Machine and chose custom (advanced) option and click Next. 

  • Select virtual machine hardware compatibility and click Next.
  •  Select Install from Installer Disc and click Next.
  • Select Guest Operating system Other and Version Other and click Next.
  • Name the Virtual Machine and chose the location.
  • Chose number of processors and number of core per processor and click Next.
  • Set the memory of virtual machine to 1GB and click Next.
  • Select Network Type (Use bridged Networking) and click Next.
  • Select I/O adapter type as recommended and click Next.
  •  Select Disk Create a new virtual disk and click Next.
  • Select the disk Type as recommended and click Next.

  •  Specify disk capacity to 120GB and chose store virtual disk as a single file and click Next.
  • Specify disk file and click Next.

  •  Un-check Power on this machine after creation and click Finish.
  •  On VMware Workstation click VM >> Settings and on Hardware tab click Hard disk and click Add Button to add a 2nd hard disk.






Click finish. And now start you VM with ECS premium CD in CD ROM.

Press enter to continue. Setup will create required partitions and copy the ECS files.


  

Remove the installation disc and restart the VM. 



 Log-in to ECS from VM or https from any other Machine on network with default ECS IP address i.e 192.168.92.1 in a browser. 

Log-in using default Username and Password for ECS Premium. Here you go :) your ECS is working.


Now Apply Licenses to have full functional ECS. Then You will have more options on the main page. see following figure.



Configure you ECS for your testing training or for support.
